When it comes to paid online surveys, the question that most people want to know is how much do online surveys pay?
There are so many sites that promise you can make hundreds or even thousands of dollars each month with online surveys that it seems like a scam.
How Much Can You Make Doing Online Surveys?
The truth is, it isn’t a scam and online surveys are safe and easy to do. You really can make money doing online surveys but not as much these sites would lead you to believe.
According to this article by ABC News, most experienced online survey takers earn about $50-$100 a month in cash and free products. According to another site, GetPaidSurveys.com, very few survey takers earn more than $200 per month.
On average, most surveys pay between 10 cents to a few dollars per survey. This all depends on which survey site you join and which surveys you actually qualify for.
Many survey review sites claim that it is possible to make upwards of $500 to $1000 a month doing online surveys but this is simply untrue.
These sites only make these claims because they are promoting the survey sites through links in the article and they want you to click the link and join the site.
These review sites that make these outrageous claims rarely have proof to back up their claims. The ones that do have proof often get it after spending countless hours completing every survey possible and every paid offer possible in a single month just to earn the highest payout they can so they can post an image of the check on their website and entice you to join the site they are promoting. It’s almost impossible to earn the amounts they claim from doing survey sites every single month.
How Do Online Surveys Pay You?
Online survey sites pay you for every survey you successfully qualify for and complete, which means that if you start taking a survey and are disqualified for it, you won’t get paid for the time you spent.
There is only one survey site that I know of that actually pays you for the surveys you are disqualified for and it is Swagbucks. The site pays one cent per survey you are disqualified for. That doesn’t seem like much but it is pretty good pay for two reasons:
1) it is better than what most survey sites pay for disqualified surveys which is nothing
2) as any experienced survey taker knows, you will be disqualified for lots and lots of surveys so you will always make money on that site one way or another.
Some online surveys pay you in cash while others pay you in gift cards or in points which you can then redeem for gift cards. The payout minimums and payment schedules also vary by site. The minimum payout for survey sites typically range from $1 to as much as $50 but most of them are in the $10-$25 range.
How Do You Get Paid for Online Surveys?
For the sites that pay in cash, the most common payment methods are Paypal, direct deposit, wire transfer or check. Checks are sent by postal mail.
So if you plan on using a site with these types of payment methods, you’ll need an account with these companies, a bank account or a place to cash a check.
For sites that pay out with gift cards, after you have earned enough to get the specific gift card that you want you then redeem your earnings and select the gift card.
Some companies, such as Points2shop, send the gift card via the mail while others, such as Swagbucks, send it as an e-gift card via email.
The information in this article should give you a better idea of how much you can really earn doing online surveys.
Even though the amounts you can realistically make don’t seem like much, surveys really don’t take much time or effort and can be done in your downtime when you have nothing better to do.
Also, remember that online surveys aren’t intended to be a full-time job, they are instead a source of supplemental income designed to help you make a little extra money on the side.
Online surveys are worth it if you are realistic about the amount you can earn and you find ways to maximize your efforts. For more information, check out our article on paid survey tips.
