Online jobs for 17 year olds are a great option for teens who don’t have the time to work a regular offline job or don’t have their own transportation to and from work.

Even though you don’t face the same federal restrictions that teens under 16 face when it comes to how much you can work and when, you still have to fit your work schedule in around your school schedule and other activities. In addition, with an offline job, you need to work enough hours to make some decent money and still find time to do your homework.

Online jobs solve all of these problems because you can do these jobs from anywhere, you get paid per task, not per hour, and you can do them whenever they are convenient for you. In addition, online jobs are also simple, fun and easy.

Offline Jobs for 17 Year Olds:

The following is a list of job options for 17 year olds who are not interested in working online:

Fast Food
A job in fast food is a very traditional first job for a teenager. Starting at 16 years old, employees can legally work in the kitchen doing things like cooking at the grill, running the dishwasher and running other kitchen equipment. Fast food restaurants are busiest at night and on weekends so they need employees who are only available during these hours, which makes it a perfect job for a teenager. The job comes with great perks too, such as discounted/free food and drinks. Although working in messy kitchen and dealing with the public can be trying, this job is a great way to gain work experience and improve your customer service skills. It’s also a great stepping stone for any teenager interested in working in the restaurant industry, since most regular restaurants won’t hire teens until they turn 18.

Retail
For teenagers who aren’t interested in working in the restaurant industry, another option is retail. Fast food and retail are similar in that they are both service industry jobs, but in retail you don’t have to deal with messy food or clean up after customers. For teens with a special interest, such as music or fashion, a job at clothing or music store is a great opportunity to indulge their interest and make money at the same time. Retail store employees also get great perks too like store discounts. Retail jobs usually require employees to work nights and weekends too, so the job works well with a teen’s school schedule.

Movie Theater
For movie enthusiasts, a job in a movie theater is another option. Working in a movie theater usually involves selling tickets, food and candy and sweeping up the theaters after a showing. The hours at movie theaters also tend to be nights and weekends as well, so there’s no problem with the schedule conflicting with a teen’s schedule at school. This job also tends to come with perks, like free movie tickets and free or discounted food and drinks.

To find these types of jobs, you can go to your local movie theater, retail stores and fast food places and ask if they have any job openings and ask if they hire 17 year olds.

Yet another way to find these jobs is to go to the job website, indeed.com, and type in the keywords “age 16” or “age 17” into the search field at the top that says “What” and then enter in your location in the search field that says “Where.”

This will show you all the job listings in your area that mention hiring 16 and 17 year olds.
